About Cisco Unified Communications Solutions by PBM IT - Call (888) 233-6471PBM IT Unified Communications Solutions are Cisco Gold Partner certified. Our staff is uniquely qualified to handle your Unified Communications needs. In 1998, networking equipment giant Cisco Systems got off to an early lead in the VoIP market after acquiring the CallManager product through the acquisition of Selsius Systems. This allowed Cisco Systems to introduce a packet-based voice system that competed with other traditional vendors, such as Alcatel, Avaya, Mitel, Nortel, and Siemens. Since then, these and many other vendors have developed their own proprietary VoIP systems in response to the growing demand for VoIP systems. Unified communications offers choice in how software applications can be deployed - onsite, hosted or on-demand. Cisco Call Manager ties traditional systems and circuits into an IP-based infrastructure using gateway devices. Gateway devices are responsible for translating the protocols and applications used in the PSTN to those used in the voice over IP (VoIP) world. Gateway interfaces come in traditional analog (FXO/FXS) and digital (T1/E1) flavors that are widely deployed today. Most of the traditional signaling mechanisms supported today are supported by these interfaces. The Cisco Unified Communications system is the first true second-generation Internet Protocol (IP) Communications system providing not just telephone services, but rather a rich communications environment that seamlessly integrates voice, video and data collaboration in one system. The Customer Interaction Analyzer is being introduced to maximize effective communications with customers, a new approach to analytics in the contact center. It uses information from customer interactions, including self service and agent assisted interactions, to determine things like customer distress, agent distress, silence and word patterns. The data helps to give the conversations business context and can help a business to coach and train agents, make changes to processes and self service scripts based upon findings - ultimately creating better customer relationships and growth for the business. Cisco Unity Express, with voicemail, integrated messaging, and auto-attendant services, available with Cisco integrated services routers, is specifically designed for small to medium-sized offices, including branch offices with up to 250 users. Organizations using unified messaging reported that employees saved 43 minutes per day from more efficient message management while mobile workers saved 55 minutes per day. The UC 500 does triple duty as a router, including NAT, as well as a firewall and a VPN appliance with both SSL and IPSec. It can also be configured as a Wi-Fi AP. Expandability is handled through Cisco's Catalyst Express 520 Series Switch, which adds eight additional 10/100 PoE ports to the network. Cisco Unified Presence is a standards-based platform that collects information from multiple sources about user availability and communications capabilities to provide rich presence status and facilitate presence-enabled communications with Cisco Unified Communications and other critical business applications. Cisco is unique in its ability to provide an end-to-end integrated unified communications system. This comprehensive solution includes the industry-leading routers and switches that comprise the basic infrastructure elements of an end-to-end, integrated network. According to Sage Research, organizations that use a single, primary vendor for IP telephony have a 43-percent lower network cost of ownership than those that use multiple vendors. IP communications solutions have proven their ability to help organizations solve such problems, enabling them to streamline business processes and reduce costs. Like Cisco Unified IP phones, Cisco IP Communicator also works with Cisco Unified Video Advantage, which combines software with the Cisco VT Camera to support video telephony. Cisco Unified Video Advantage lets users make calls using the familiar phone interface, with the video displayed on their PC. The Cisco video telephony solution is as simple to provision as any Cisco Unified IP phone, enabling a cost-effective, scalable, and visually interactive communications solution. Cisco offers a variety of solutions for organizations with mobile workers in different work environments. Workers who are frequently mobile will appreciate Cisco Unified Mobility for Cisco Unified Communications Manager or Cisco Unified CallConnector Mobility for Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express. These mobile features publish a single phone number to customers, colleagues, and partners and have calls routed to the device most convenient to them at that time: office, home, or mobile phone. In addition, workers can transparently transfer a call from a cell phone to their office phone (or conversely) when they arrive at the office—without interrupting the call. While traveling, mobile workers can also access enterprise IP communications features, including using the corporate network to carry their calls, thus helping keep costs down. In addition to the UC 500's own wireless features, Cisco offers the 526 Wireless Express Mobility Controller. Whereas the UC 500 can support any VoIP phone in Cisco's portfolio, the Cisco 526 is designed to work only with APs in the Wireless Express product line. Today, that means your sole option is the 521 Wireless Express AP, which is similar in form factor to Cisco's 1130AG but offers only an 802.11b/g radio. On the bright side, both autonomous and LWAPP-based APs are available, and we expect other APs to be added to the Wireless Express line in the future to address upcoming Wi-Fi radio standards.
